Proxy Troubleshooting Guide
407 Authentication Error
The HTTP 407 Proxy Authentication Required response indicates that the request failed due to missing or invalid proxy authentication credentials.
Recommended troubleshooting steps:
- Verify your username and password in the dashboard.
- If using IP whitelisting, ensure the request is originating from an authorized IP address.
- Check whether your channel has reached its traffic limit, expired, or been disabled.
Connectivity Issues
Proxy connectivity requires meeting specific conditions before a successful connection can be established.
Please ensure that:
- Your device is connected to the internet.
- The required connection ports are open.
- No other proxy or VPN is active.
- You are using the correct proxy host and port (refer to: How to Use a Proxy).
- The error originates from the proxy layer (not a general network or browser error).
Additional troubleshooting options:
- Temporarily disable antivirus software.
- If using a remote server, ensure firewall rules allow proxy port traffic.
- Try switching to a different endpoint.
- Test with alternative proxy tools or clients.
- Switch networks (e.g., mobile hotspot or different Wi-Fi).
Network Performance & Bandwidth
Proxy bandwidth typically ranges from 2 Mbps to 5 Mbps (1 Mbps ≈ 128 KB/s).
If you experience reduced speed, you may try the following:
- Reduce the number of active sessions or open windows
- Check and optimize your local network conditions
- Switch to a more stable network if necessary
Proxy Request Format
curl --proxy <host>:<port> --proxy-user <channelId>-<proxy_type>-country_<country>-r_<sessionDuration>-s_<sessionId>:<password> https://api.ipapi.is/<host>: Proxy gateway endpoint address.<port>: Proxy gateway port.<channelId>: Assigned channel identifier.<proxy_type>: Proxy type. Fixed values: “resi”, “dc”, or “mobile”. This parameter is bound to the channel configuration and cannot be modified<country>: Target country code.<sessionDuration>: Session lifetime configuration. Supports “rotate per request” or fixed durations (e.g., “5m”, “60m”, etc.). The maximum session duration is 120 minutes.<sessionId>: Session identifier. A unique value may be used per request.<password>: Channel authentication password (minimum length: 8 characters).
Proxy Session Model
Sticky Proxy:
The proxy will remain the same as long as it is valid. It will automatically switch once it becomes invalid.
Rotating Proxy:
A new proxy is assigned for every request, regardless of the previous proxy’s status.
Network Coverage & IP Pool
Locations
For traffic-based proxies (Residential, Datacenter, and Mobile), we offer coverage across a wide range of countries. You can easily select your preferred locations directly from the dashboard to match your specific needs.
Our ISP proxies are currently available in the US, CA, DE, UK, and HK. We are continuously expanding our global coverage—stay tuned for more locations coming soon.
Pool Size
Our platform does not maintain a fixed IP inventory per country. IP resources are provisioned through a continuously refreshed allocation system, dynamically adjusted based on real-time demand, network availability, and routing optimization parameters.
In high-utilization regions, the system supports aggregate daily IP availability of up to ~500K. The infrastructure is engineered to maintain high availability, controlled rotation frequency, and consistent network performance under variable load conditions.
Gateway
Gateway Overview
To ensure stable connectivity, all requests are routed through a global gateway endpoint. Latency may vary depending on the user’s geographical location and network conditions.
